Granite’s quartz content (Mohs 7) grinds through steel like sandpaper. A stone cutting blade must manage three simultaneous challenges — drive security, segment wear, and slurry evacuation. The LIVTER 230mm granite cutting blade addresses each with a specific engineering choice.
Single Keyway: Drive Security Under 7,000 RPM Load
On a friction-mounted blade, the arbor nut’s clamping force is the only thing preventing the blade from rotating relative to the spindle. When a 230mm blade bites into dense granite at 6,000–7,000 RPM, cutting resistance can momentarily exceed the friction threshold — the blade slips, the cut wanders, and the arbor gets scored. The LIVTER stone saw blade‘s rectangular keyway converts that failure mode into a mechanical impossibility: the key transmits the drive torque positively, and the arbor nut only has to hold the blade against the flange, not fight the cutting load.
Segment Metallurgy: Matching the Matrix to the Stone
The 18 segments of the marble cutting disc carry synthetic diamond grit (typically 40/50 mesh for stone) in a cobalt-bronze matrix. Matrix hardness is tuned to the material: a matrix that’s too hard polishes smooth without exposing fresh diamonds; too soft and segments wear out before the diamonds. LIVTER’s stone-grade formulation is set for the mid-range — aggressive enough for granite’s quartz, controlled enough for marble’s softer, more friable texture. Segment geometry at 10×5mm provides the height-to-width ratio that maintains a stable grinding face through the segment’s service life.
Keyhole Gullets + Stress Holes: The Slurry Highway
Stone cutting produces an abrasive slurry of water and pulverized silica. The keyhole-shaped gullets between segments create a continuous channel that carries slurry outward under centrifugal force. The drilled stress-relief holes at each gullet base serve a second purpose: they stop the crack propagation that starts at sharp slot corners under thermal cycling, extending the concrete cutting blade‘s structural life across hundreds of cuts.
